Store brand & Brand name formula

I am starting to mix some formula with the BM bottles. ?Is there a difference besides the price with formula? ?I heard a few years back in a magazine that brand name was better because store brands didn't have the same nutritional value.

At my grocery store, the Wegmans brand is $11.99 while the Enfamil Lipil is $24.

Re: Store brand & Brand name formula

  • Different store brands are comparable to different name brands.

Our Dr. recommended generic, and it used it to feed his children.  We still went with Good Start though.

  • they are comparable (there's even little comparison charts on the labels of the target formula).  DS went on target brand once we polished off all the samples of regular enfamil and similac, and we have never had a problem.  and the fact that the target brand costs less than half?  well, yeah.  awesome perk!
  • Our pedi said no difference. We were using the Similac Isomil (pink one) & tried the Walmart brand Soy Formula. DS spit up less on the Walmart one than he did on brand name. Cost is a lot cheaper so that was an added benefit! Our sitter also suggested trying Walmart brand before we switched.
  • I compared the labels between Costco brand and Enfamil and the nutrition facts were the same, so we went with the Costco brand. Can't beat getting two cans for under $20!

  • We started generic early on. She's been on generic since then. I like it more because the Enfamil has a tendency to be so foamy, and I can't tell how much she has drank. Generic is not foamy at all.

  • Little Man has been on generic since the beginning. I don't like all generic, the Walmart seemed a little different texture wise. It was way different feeling than the Enfamil gentease name brand. We buy Target brand. As there is no Target near the ILs, and I hate taking up suitcase space (on an airplane) for bulky "easily purchased there" baby items MIL buys the name brand.
  • We just starting using formula as well and chose Similac Advanced. I think store brand would be good as well but same way I don't buy many foods that are store brand, I chose a brand name formula for her.

    ?

Look around for different stores and coupons. I hear people have great luck with that. I just buy it at whatever store I'm at so I can't help there.?

  • We have used BJ's brand formula since the beginning.  The container is huge and way cheaper and we have had no problems at all.  My pedi suggested we use it and have been quite pleased.
