What do you think for a boy?

Too "last namey"?

My mom would loooove for us to use this name, as it is a family last name... but growing up with it as my maiden - I'm not sure if I'm giving it a fair shot as a first (or middle) name.

Any thoughts on it?

I really like it. But I don't mind last names as first names either as long as they're normal. And FWIW I like Walker Texas Ranger so it's a positive association for me.

Me too. Although, I do think it would be nice as a middle name. I wish my maiden name could be used as a middle. I think that's a cool/meaningful tradition.

I think of Texas Ranger as well, but I don't think it's bad. I don't mind "last namey" names, though. I like Chase, Hunter, Beckett, etc.

There's no really anything 'wrong' with it, I'm just not a fan of last names as first names in general. I do know a little boy named Walker though. It sounds southern to me.

The W in George W Bush is for Walker. That's kind of a downer. But it gets points for being a family name. Kind of a draw in my book. But if you loved the president, then go for it.

I love it, especially because it is also your maiden name. It's so fun to be able to have a last name fitting for that use... mine is Polish, very hard to spell and pronounce, and would never work! A friend of mine has the maiden name of Spencer, and I always thought it would be so cool for her to pass it on as a FN.

I love it. I'm a big fan of using family names - it I have a boy, his name will be Harris, which was also my maiden name. The only thing about Walker is that it does make me think of Talladega Nights and Ricky Bobby's twins "Walker" and "Texas Ranger." But that makes me laugh (in a good way), so it's not a negative thing. I really do like the name.
