preschool - 2 days in a row or split up?

I remember hearing that it's easier for the kid if the preschool days are back to back. WDYT? I can pick any days I want. I am just not sure what's best. I kind of would like them to be separated out so that if he was sick he wouldn't miss a whole week.

I am doing two 3-hour days.

Thanks.

Re: preschool - 2 days in a row or split up?

  • My DD is currently in daycare 3 days per week and they are back to back.  It's a great schedule for us and we always have a 4 day weekend.

He could miss a whole week for illness, but that could happen even if the days aren't back to back.  I like the fact that my DD has 4 days off to recover from illnesses.  She rarely misses school for illness because of the schedule.

  • Noah goes M-W and it works out perfectly.  He gets 3 days there and 4 at home.  I think it help him stay in a routine in each place.  He naps at school and that has yet to be interrupted by this schedule.
  • Most of my friends whose kids go two days a week do M-W or T-TH, but I think if it were me we'd go two days in a row.
  • Joey goes M, W, F.  I actually prefer it that way as he isn't a huge fan of school and so he can go one day, have one day off.  Go one day, have one day off.
  • The other thing with doing two days in a row (say Mon/Tues) is that by Monday again (so 5 days later), if he is anything like Joey, he is NOT going to want to return.  Too much time in between.  But honestly, now that I'm typing this out, I think whatever works best is really child dependent.
  • ditto Jodi. ?E is Tues & Thurs right now & it's perfect b/c he doesn't really love it at this point (well, he does once he's there, but doesn't want to go initially). ?
