Dizzy Dizzy Dizzy!

I do not understand why this is all of a sudden keeps happening to me! Monday I passed out after my GD test, and today I had three moments at work where I thought for sure I was going to pass out! Anyone else keep having this happen?

Re: Dizzy Dizzy Dizzy!

  • I'm not as far along as you are, but I'm having quite a bit of dizziness this time (I had none with my first pregnancy). I asked the OB and she thought maybe it's 1) not enough water, or 2) a blood sugar issue. She recommended more protein, especially at breakfast (I seem to be most prone to the dizzy spells about 30-60 minutes after breakfast). The hot shower / weather isn't helping, either. I think it may be a loooong summer.

  • Yes it is due to low b/p if you don't have low Iron.  Try not to stand still for too long, get up too fast and they thing that helped me the most is drink lots and lots of water.
  • Ditto Genevieve -- I was told it was because of my low iron (anemia discovered at 8wks) and also asked to monitor my BP daily. My BP that first day I called about it was 96/59!?

What's helped me is taking my iron pills in the morning rather than at night, drinking lots and lots of water, and eating every 2 hours (protein with every meal/snack). ?

  • yeah i just found out wednesday I have low iron...but my doc didnt tell me this was causing my dizzyness! Well hopefully these extra iron pills work! Thanks ladies :)

  • Hey, I see your going to name your little one Trista? That is a beautiful name, I have never heard that one! Too cute! I just might have to put that on my names list.

As far as the dizziness, with my anxiety sometimes its hard to tell if I'm not experiencing the results of my anxiety getting the best of me, or if I'm really getting dizziness/light headed from the pregnancy itself. I did almost pass out last week, but I realised it was from not eating anything all day, I had no appetite and never even noticed I had not aten until my pulse was flying, and I started to feel those feelings you get when you are just about to pass out. I was at work and stumbled to the juice machine and started chugging orange juice (I knew our concentrated stuff had to be loaded with sugar!). I also had a feeling where my legs felt like jello and I felt light headed, I got out my bp cuff, and my bp had dropped to 111/70. Not a bad number at all, but you see, because of my anxiety and heart history, my body can tip me off at the slightest blood pressure increase or decrease, and Even that little difference in bp made me feel not myself.
