PSA/AW: made my own iron-on labels for daycare!

This is and AW for my crafty self and a PSA for all you other daycare moms who have to label LO's clothes.

I just wanted to pass along an idea I had (I'm sure I'm not the first mom to do this, but still wanted to share). To label all of DS clothes/blankets for daycare I used iron-on transfer paper, printed at home with our last name 100 times, cut up the little squares and voila!

I bought a pack of 7 or 10 sheets from Target for $7-8 (cheaper than at office depot). I used MSWord and picked out a "label wizard" size that was roughly the size I needed, and then typed in our last name. I fit about 100 or so labels on 1 sheet, you could probably fit even more. I made about 1/2 the cells with a light grey background to kind of "highlight" and make the name more obvious. You have to print the words in reverse/backwards so REMEMBER to select "MIRROR" from the printer options. (I forgot the first time). Also, I didn't figure out a way to print with colors that show up well on a dark t-shirt - so if anybody figures that out let me know. I tried yellow font but still couldn't see it.

I have used the paper in the past to make cute onsies for friends' babies and didn't even immediately think to use it for something practical like this. Once I realized how many little clothes would need labels as DS grows through clothes this year I decided I didn't want to spend the money on mabels labels or bother with masking tape to label clothes everyday for daycare, and so much of the stuff doesn't have tags to be able to write on with a sharpie....
