in a pickle - need thoughts

So, we went out of town this weekend to visit relatives.  Thought I had enough diapers, but we seem to be running low so I'm nervous that we won't make it through tomorrow.  My aunt says we can use her washer but she only has Tide detergent which pinstripes and polkadots gives 2 stars for use on cloth diapers.  I was wondering if it would really make a difference if I used the Tide for just the one wash.  If it makes a difference, we have prefolds and a couple of BG3s, but I really only would need to wash the prefolds.

Thanks!

  • If you're just washing the prefolds then you're fine. Prefolds are pretty bulletproof when it comes to your laundry cycle. You can do just about anything to them and they'll be fine. Just think about the fact that 30 years ago no one worried about 'safe' cd detergents because everyone used prefolds. They're basically just cotton fibers like any of your clothes/ towels etc. Just make sure they don't get any fabric softener on them because that will cause problems (just like not using fabric softener on towels to maintain absorbency).
