Babies: 9 - 12 Months

s/o - What's the one thing you don't miss about being pregnant?

Disclaimer - I know it's been asked before, but weekends are dead around here. Stick out tongue

For me it was the swelling I had for the last 6 weeks of my pregnancy. By the time I was induced at 38 weeks, I had severe edema from my belly button down. I could barely squeeze into my baggiest maternity jeans because my legs were so swollen. It only got worse after I had DS because I was pumped full of IV fluids for 36 hours. I didn't even start to feel back to normal until DS was about 2 weeks old.

I'll take m/s over that horrendous swelling any day. I'm going to ask my ob how/if I can avoid that from happening next time because it seriously made me question having another baby for a while (yes, it was that bad).

  • Everything. ?Being pregnant was torture. ?I don't care how that sounds... take from it what you will! ?I'm allowed to complain, I gave birth to a fatty, lol.?
  • The m/s--mine lasted all the 1st tri and then reappeared the 3rd.  I couldn't hold anything down.

  • Living in the bathroom. ?I hated having to pee every 2 minutes and waking up in the middle of the night to pee.
  • I'd say the horrible fatigue, but I'm still dealing with that now with a non-STTN'r.
  • The clothes: by the end of the pregnancy I wanted to burn them all.

  • I don't miss being very pregnant (delivered 9/13) all hot summer.

  • The terrible swelling I had the last couple of weeks due to my severe pre-eclampsia.  I could not find any shoes that would fit.  Even my flip flops were too tight as were the three-sizes-bigger-than-normal shoes that I bought.

  • The constipation the first few months really sucked and not being able to sleep well the last month.

  • I had severe edema starting at about 5 months. It was painful to bend my knees. It didn't go down until I was put on diuretics after returning to the hospital the day after I went home with ds - turns out I had fluid building up on my lungs.

I was like you, Icky. For the first couple months after having ds, I seriously questioned whether I wanted to have another child after all I went through. I plan on asking my doctor about all my issues at my annual appt. this summer. I know I'll have extra eyes on me this time, so I'm not too worried, but I want to know if there's a way I can prevent alot of what happened to me.

  • reflux in the 3rd tri - disgusting!  swelling.
  • Hands down it was the constant peeing during the last 6 weeks.  I was up just as much then as I am now.
  • Not being able to sleep on my stomach. Which resulted in not being able to sleep at all. I am such a stomach sleeper. Sleeping on my sides gave me leg cramps and I can NOT sleep on my back. I got more sleep after having Mitchell and he was up every 2 hours.

That and in the 3rd tri, I had major food aversions. I didn't hardly eat at all. Still wondering how I gained so much weight though...?

  • m/s, being huge and hot in the summer, not being able to sleep on my back and peeing every 5 mins!

  • Insomnia during 3rd tri, exhaustion during 1st tri, when DD would arch her back and jab her butt in my ribs.......with all that I still want another one!

  • Terrible heartburn almost the entire pregnancy (but it did help keep my weight gain down) and having a hard time breathing because she was so high up!

  • I definitely do not miss not being able to sleep (from discomfort anyway). ?I had to sleep in the guest room for the last few weeks because I had so many pillows and wedges to try to get comfortable. ?I had restless leg syndrome and it was horrible. ?I didn't believe that it really existed until I developed it myself! ?It was gone before I even left the hospital after delivering.

  • being immuno-suppressed and catching every.single.bug that came along.  The colds were fine, but 3 weeks of the flu with nothing but Tylenol was the worst thing ever.

ETA:  I thought of something else.  Baby hiccups.  So freaking annoying.

  • The constant, severe pelvic pain I had from about 20 weeks on!  My pelvis spread too quickly, the doctor said, which resulted in weeks of horrendous pain sitting, standing, laying, walking... ugh.
  • Getting the sh!t beat out of me on the inside all.the.time and not being able to get those crazy feet out of my ribs for the last 4 months.
  • i also had severe carpel tunnel from about week 20 on.  it got worse the longer i was pregnant.   i couldn't hold anything and it was constant pain/irritation.  it would wake me up at night it was so bad.  my ob/gyn said it was the baby was positioned so i am hoping when i am pregnant again, it won't be as bad if the baby is in a different position.
  • Carpal tunnel....I couldn't even write my own name!  The heartburn was wretched....I pushe d for 3 hours with nasty heartburn.  When it was determined I needed a c/s, I asked for some antacid.

  • Horrendous back aches that didn't let me sleep, reflux and swelling in the hot Florida summer!  We're thinking of TTC in the next month or so and this brings it all back...yikes!
  • I honestly loved being pregnant and would do it all over again in a heartbeat, but I don't miss the horrid heartburn (I went through tums like candy), and the inability to sleep those last couple of weeks because night time was DS's most active time. Oh and the horrible bladder infection I had the last 2 weeks I was pregnant I was on 2 different antibiotics and it didn't touch it. But he was worth it;)
