Friend had failed induction

My friend went in be induced. ?It didn't work and after 24 hours she was having very painful contractions but no?dilation. ?So they simply sent her home. ?INDUCTION FAILED.

I am taking her tomorrow for pedis and girly gossip time. ?Maybe all that massaging will make?something?happen.?

Re: Friend had failed induction

  • wow, I didn't know they would do that.  My hospital did a c-section when my induction didn't work.  It was like "once you're here, you're not leaving without a baby."  Then again, maybe the fact that I had DS 2 days before Thanksgiving had something to do with it (I was induced at 42 wks 1 day b/c doc was going out of town for the holiday)

  • Aw, bummer. At least they didn't try to make her have a c-section though. I'd take being sent home any day over surgery.

Poor woman, she's probably pretty frustrated.

  • Wow, I didn't know they sent you home... induction=baby is coming out today by any means necessary.... hopefully the massaging will work!
  • Hopefully it will work for her, have fun!

  • Some OBs will send you home if you aren't dilating.....It just kinda depends on the situation...

  • If your body is not dilating on its own, there is no danger to you or the infant why in the hell would you have a surgery that is very invasive(sp)?

On that note I was sent home because of a failed induction. Allie came a few days later by emergency csection.  Her heart was stopping with the contractions.

if it hadn't been a holiday how long was your dr gonna let you go?

  • I had a condition that put me at risk and they still tried to send me home. I asked who would be liable if something happened to the baby (since the risk of stillbirth was elevated which was why they were inducing me early). They quickly decided I could stay and we'd try more options.
