2nd Trimester

does the litter box rule also include cat vomit?

I mean, I shouldn't have to clean it up should I?

Re: does the litter box rule also include cat vomit?

  • I have three - if I didn't wipe it up, I'd end up stepping in it.

  • It's included in my house!! Big Smile
  • I put on a glove and cleaned some up - DH was still in bed and it was either deal with the smell and the sight of it or just clean it up!
  • I say try to convince DH to do it...if only for the ickyness factor.
  • I just cleaned up some hairy cat womit 20 minutes ago...you read my mind!

  • it sure does if you want it to be!

  • I couldn't do it when I had MS. It just made me puke on top of the puke. Now, I wad up the paper towel and get rid of the chunks and then spray water on it and put down a rag to soak everything up.

Ditto. The sound of my cats bringing up the hairball vomit (which sounds eerily similar to a woman wearing high heels on linoleum floor....or like you're pumping a bottle of soap that's empty)...THAT sound would make me vomit.

  • Last time my cat puked, I made my husband clean it up.  I pretended that I would have puked as well.  I might have, or I might not have, but I deserve a break from cat puke for a while!

  • Unfortunetly, I don't think so. The disease (which I can't remember the name of) is only found in cat poo.

Ditto! The issue with kitties is the possibility that they can spread toxoplasmosis, a parasite that sheds the eggs in kitty poop. It doesn't travel up the intestines, just down. But, just for future reference, most people are exposed to toxoplasmosis as children and develop an antibody to it. You can have a blood screen done to see if you are in the clear. Smile Definitely eases your mind if you are a kitty lover like many of us are.

  • Unfortunately for me, my hisband is a veterinary technician likem e so he knows nothing can happen to me or the baby from cleaning it up.. so I still have to clean it :(.

Toxoplasmosis is only transferred by the feces. You can get a screening for it. I did... and I have had cats my whole life, have been a veterinary technician for 7 years (where i clean cat poop all day) and I had NO titer. So needless to say... I don't clean the pans at work :)
