Well, at least one of us can calm a crying baby

DH and I are babysitting the 5 month old of a friend.  He got super cranky and started screaming his little head off despite everything I was trying to calm him down.  DH finally got him to fall asleep.  Ugh, I fail.  I honestly don't even know what he did that was different.

  • My DH has that effect on babies too. I feel like a loser when we babysit!

  • Could've been something as simple as the sound of his voice or that maybe he looks like his daddy or someone he knows?  Certain way he rocked him?

Don't be too hard on yourself...babies can be incredibly picky.  You'll learn what your baby likes, it's different dealing with someone else's kid.

  • he probably hadn't already tried 5 million different things and wasn't feeling frustrated, it's a love/hate thing when DH seems to have that special touch with babies, I love that he can calm them, but hate that I couldn't.
