question for FF: Which formula and why?

DS not gaining on breastmilk alone and we are going to start supplementing with formula after each feeding. Which formula is your LO on and why did you choose it? THanks! :)

Re: question for FF: Which formula and why?

  • We have used similac advance and enfamil lipil with iron with Kelsey (also with Teagan) and have had no problems with either one.  Both were recommended by the pedi.

  • Our pediatrician gave us free samples of Similac Sensitive (Jack is very gassy) & we just stuck with it.
  • Similac advanced. It is supposed to be most like breast milk. And we had some free samples when we started supplementing and my son has done very good on it since.
  • We've used Enfamil Lipil Enriched with Iron since she was born. It's used to supplement as well... GL!

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Good start. Its gentle on the belly, and actually smells and looks the most like breast milk. All 3 of my brat babies have used it
  • Oh yeah, we use it because it was the stuff the hospital gave us! :)

  • Enfamil Lipil, because the hospital said so.  She reacted fine to it so we stuck with it.

  • I supplement sometimes with formula, and use the Similac Advance.
  • similac advance early shield, his poop even looks like breasfed poop on it and it doesnt smell or stain
  • Similac Sensitive, we started out with Advanced and he was very gassy and spitting up a lot and not gaining so we put him on Sensitive and he has been great ever since

  • Similac Isomil (soy).  We tried Enfamil, Gentlease, and Similac Advance and DS was a fussy, gassy mess on all of them.  So we are on soy since soy is supposed to be gentler.  If he didn't have problems, we would have gone with Similac Advance.

  • Similac Advance Early Shield... because that's what the hospital used and we didn't see a need to switch

  • We started out supplimenting the BM with Enfamil Lipil as we weaned off the breast milk and to full Enfamil, DD had major tummy trouble (rumbling, extreme spit-up, etc) so the dr suggested switching to SImilacEarly Shield.  That caused major gas problems so we are now on SImilac Sensative and loving it.
