I don't know why I continue to call my single party all the time girlfriend.. EVERYTIME I talk to her it's the same questions, "when are you having the baby, again? It feels like you've been pregnant for a year" or "Do you know if it's a boy or girl yet?"
Last week she actually asked me if I was interested in going on a girls trip to Miami in July......hmmm, that would be a month after my baby is born??? I told her to put me down as a "no" for girl trips for the next 18 years or so. So she says "God I'm so glad I'm not having a kid, you miss everything!"
Re: Non-preggo friend vent...
you could argue the same thing to her
Eh, the "miss out on everything" comment was way out of line, but I feel like I'd be hurt if my good friend didn't invite me on a girl's trip just b/c I was preg. / had a child. We're still the same people - just b/c you have a baby doesn't mean you wouldn't enjoy a little party-time with the girls. Of course, one month after the birth is maybe too soon, but I think that it was nice of her to include you.
And honestly, if I asked a friend to go on a trip and she was all "ohhhhh noooo! I could never leave my darling child - you just wouldn't understand," I'd probably roll my eyes.
I know exactly how you feel. I was at a family reunion last weekend and my cousins don't have kids (I am the first grandchild on both sides to have a baby)... they were all saying things like, "Yeah if you ever call me I am just going to ignore the phone because it's probably you asking for babysitting or help."
So I turned to them and said, "I guess when you call me asking me pregnancy, birthing or parenting questions I will be ignoring your calls as well."
I was seriously SO PISSED! Why are singles so rude?? I want to have more joy and fulfillment in my life!
I hear you, I feel like I've seen a lot of this. ?One guy friend of mine (who has made it clear he NEVER intends to have kids) berates pregnant women and families with young babies all the time and doesn't get what the "big deal" is - he hates it when people post ultrasound pics on facebook too, it disgusts him, yet he is obsessed with his two cats and puts up pictures of them everywhere. ?He really thinks they are human and better than babies, and implies they are the same amount of work.
?
Don't get me wrong, I looooove animals (we have 4 dogs), but I don't think this type of comparison is appropriate or correct...?
