3rd Trimester

When will you stop working ?

How many days before due date to you plan on taking off ?

I don't want to take to much time off before, I only get 4-6 weeks and it's unpaid so I rather be spending it with my baby than sitting around waiting !

Re: When will you stop working ?

  • I'll stop when my contractions start or my water breaks.  I don't want to waste any time that could be spent with baby.

    This.

  • My doc has pretty much told me that she will take me out when I am ready.  She is a big believer in knowing your limits and getting rest when you need it.

That being said I would like to stay as long as I can so I have optimum time with baby this summer.  :)

  • I am due May 12 and set my last day as April 24 (about 2 weeks before my due date).  However, my doctor pulled me as of Tuesday (4 weeks before my due date).  Thankfully, I have separate PTO that I can take before the baby is born and it doesn't affect my PTO after.  All in all, I am taking 6 weeks of unpaid time, but will be off for about 6 months.

Same here, although I'm starting to regret that decision.

  • I want to go now! But I will probably go 2 weeks before my due date.. Turns out as of July 1st NJ is offereing paid leave for up to 12 weeks to "bond" with baby.... so I am going to use my maternity disability for the 2 weeks before the baby and once he is born, I will file for the bonding time to begin.  I may even stretch it to 3 weeks before depending on my mood and how I feel.

  • Its officially started today.  Yes, I could have waited longer, but I have sooo much to do and sooo little time, I'd rather dedicate these last few weeks (if I have as many as I do) to getting the house ready for our little one.

  • I'm trying to work up until the end. I'm hoping to be able to work from home a few days a week for the last couple weeks.

  • LOL I've already "stopped" working / being productive at work. Yet they continue to pay me, so ....

I think I'm going to make 5/1 my last day, since I'm constantly tired and am struggling a bit to make it through every day.

FWIW, I'm not planning on returning to work, so saving time to spend with baby after his/her arrival is a moot point for me.

  • The last day of school is about 2 1/2 weeks before my EDD but then I have a week after that where I need to clean my classroom out. Ugh. I'll be doing a lot of directing at that point.
