We're taking one. It's only $50 per couple and with my insurance I get it for $30 so even if it isn't worth it, we won't be out too much money. Plus they do a hospital tour as part of the class (we can schedule one separately also) and I've heard they give away goodies =D
Ours starts next week. I'm looking forward to it, I think it will help me prepare for the process of labor - but I may come back on next week and say it's useless... I've heard that if you read a lot of baby books (which I have) they don't really cover much extra stuff. I think it will be good for DH, though, because he hasn't read a lot of baby stuff.
We are taking a breastfeeding class, and 6 week long (1x wk) childbirth class, and a newborn 101 class (specifically for DH, although he doesn't know that)...It might be overload..but I'd rather do that then underload...It was $100 total for all three..
No CB or BF classes for us. I was told by many recent 1st time moms that it's not worth it. I know some people feel more comfortable going through the motions, but it just wasn't for us. I did watch a lot of videos online. They have classes and births on youtube.
We took one through our hospital. It was $50 per couple and totally worth it. While some of it was cheesey and the videos were a little out of date, we did get some good techniques/exercises for dealing with early labor. I think it also was good for DH, since he had no idea that you actually have to birth the placenta. He might have passed out in the room if that had been sprung on him in the delivery room.
I'm almost finished with my childbirth class. I tool it through the hospital where I am delivering. I think that is definitely worth it. It includes a hospital tour, and all sorts of information on how they do things at my hospital. Plus its taught by the nurses which means you'll have familiar faces when you deliver.
I am actually really glad that I took my CB class. It was four weeks long and $60. A lot of people told us it was worthless before hand, but I actually found it useful. It wasn't just breathing exercises. The nurse actually went through all the phases with us and let us know what to expect. We were given breastfeeding tips, further education on pain relief and many other things I didn't expect. I am glad I went, I wasn't really fond of the breathing/lamaze aspect, but more the educational aspect.

We're taking a childbirth class, BF'ing class, and infant care class through the hospital. They are pretty pricey in my area, but I am a nerd and like to do a lot of research beforehand about everything.
Yes I would def. recommend it to everyone who's expecting their first baby. My husband and I loved it. We thought it was informative, it helped me underastand the process of natural child birth vs. epidurals and taught me techniques to use to relax myself and it got my husband involved in the process too which I thought was great! It was also a bonding experince for me and my husband.
