Yellow goop in right eye..anyone know?

Charleigh woke up this morning and her poor right eye was basically glued shut.  I went to daycare to nurse her at lunch and she was down for a nap and woke up with the exact same problem.  I have a call in to the doctor but was wondering if it is the beginning of pink eye?? I hope not!  She has never had any eye issues before, no clogged tear ducts or anything.  Isn't she a little old to get clogged tear ducts?  I am clueless.

    Sounds like pink eye to me. I'm surprised they let her stay at daycare. If DD gets it I have to take her home and get antibiotic ointment for her eyes. She's had it twice now and the 2nd time she had it, 6-7 other kids from daycare had it too.

    This happens to DD every time she gets a cold. It always starts with goopy eyes. It might be viral conjunctivitis, but I would call the doc just in case.

    ditto the beginning of a cold.  dd has one eye that always gets weepy right before she gets sick.

    We've had this happen 3 times:  once was staph (right after birth), once was pinkeye and once it was mucus pouring into his tear ducts from a bad head cold.  All 3 required treatment so definitely call the pedi.
