1st Trimester

Anyone weigh themselves a couple days a week?

First off, I'm not trying to brag or anything of the sort. ?I'm just a little concerned. ?My total weight gain as of monday was 5 pounds, and then this morning I had lost 2 pounds. ?However, I don't have m/s, so I haven't thrown up this week. ?Anyone else have this fluctuation? ?I couldn't find good info on google except "it's not good to lose weight." ?Can bloat make you heavier?

Re: Anyone weigh themselves a couple days a week?

  • As I heard yes bloating makes you heavier and according to a book am reading lots of pregnant women loose weight in their first trimester and gain it back up later on in their pregnancy...

  • Weight fluctuation is totally normal.  I've found that my weight fluctuates more now that I'm pg, presumably because of all the weird stomach issues (ahem, on both ends) and hormones.  I would not stress about a couple pounds here or there.

  • what you're probably experiencing is water weight...and it fluctuates.  Some days it's up a few pounds, other days it's down.  Completely normal.

  • I started out at about 106 lbs ( I am a whooping 5'2") and I don't think I have stopped eating in the last 5 weeks, so let's say I avoid the scale at all costs.  I got on once since finding out and in those 5 weeks, I managed to put on 5 lbs! I thought the pound a week came the last month of pregnancy:-)  Mind you, I worked out 4 times a week prior to finding out, but due to a bleed, my OB said no exercise!  So double whammy!  My DH says it's what the baby "needs"...LOL, but if I don't eat when my stomach grumbles, I get nauseous.  Oh well, I will embrace it!
  • I had my 2nd appt on monday and I had lost weight. My doctor said its common to lose a little and to go up in down in the first trimester. Most woman do because they change eating habits to healthier choices and from lack of keeping food down. So your fine as long as you start gaining in the second trimester.
  • My weight has flucuated.  I have gained 3lbs.  They say you should only gain 1-4lbs in the first trimester anyway so I think you should be ok.  Also some people do lose weight in the first trimester.
  • I weigh myself daily. It's completely normal to see a fluctuation. The foods you ate and the fluids you drank the day before can make a bid difference as well as your BMs.

  • I gained 6 lbs, and I'm back down to 3lbs gain. I blame mine on constipation, water retention, and poor food choices occasionally. Stick out tongue

  • I originally lost 6 but have gained 3 back now.  I definately need to be careful about my weight tho bc I was already overweight so I'm not supposed to gain more than 15lbs the whole time. Zip it!

  • im also 12 weeks and have a pretty big (huge) bloat!  but my last appointment (2 days ago) i only gained a pound.  it must be b/c i'm eating much healthier so i'm not gaining weight (yet)
  • I weight myself almost daily. I'd held completely steady for a couple months (starting before BFP) and then yesterday was down two pounds. Today I was down another 5. I haven't been throwing up, but have been dealing with some "loose stools" (not diarrhea, just "loose"...sorry for TMI) so I'm guessing it's related to that and the vast improvements in my diet. Or the fact that my scale sucks.?
  • I weigh myself everyday!  I`m overweight to begin with so I shouldn`t be gaining as much weight.  So far my weight has only fluctuated up by 1 pound - today I was down 2 pounds from my pre-pg weight.  I haven`t had morning sickness but I`ve been really nauseated and nothing sounds good!
