Now that Macy is just about 6 months old, I'm wondering how we should be introducing cups to her. I've been giving her a cup when we feed her solids and just letting her take a sip of water out of it here and there.
How did you all introduce sippy cups? When did you start giving your DC a cup? What did you put in the cups (BM, water, watered down juice, etc.)? TIA!
Also, when did you introduce puffs? Before or after teeth? We are still with no teeth.
Re: Tell me about introducing cups
We only offer water to Maggie in her cup at meal times. I tried breastmilk once and she was all like, "what are you doing??" so we haven't pushed that. :-) I've only offered watered down juice if she hasn't pooped in a few days.
We started puffs once she seemed to be okay with eating off the spoon and I thought she was sort of ready to chew, probably around 8 months? The teeth really don't make a difference, Maggie eats table food now with her two meager front bottom teethers.
The gerber puffs dissolve, so the kids don't necessarily need teeth to eat them but I'd wait a little longer before trying them on DC (until 8 or 9 months old?).
We just started offering DD water and formula in sippy cups (the nubby ones so she was still using something similar to a bottle). She was totally off the bottle and into sippy cups by 12 months--our pedi was amazed, as were we.

We started giving him the sippy cup to practice with around 6 months, but he just got the hang of it about 2 weeks ago. We've only put in water and watered-down juice so far, I want to wait until he's a little more proficient before I put EBM in it, so there's no pouring it down the drain
We started puffs just after 6 months. He had 2 teeth by then, but we probably wouldn't have waited for teeth.
