XP: how often is your bf'd newborn pooping?

He hasn't gone since Monday.  And before that it was about a day or 2.  Pedi said he should be pooping more often.  We go back next week. But I may call in tomorrow. 

He is nursing well (so I think).  He has plenty of wet diapers, nursing every 2-4 hours.  He farts a ton but no poop.

    my DD goes 3-4 times a day now, but when my milk first came in it was only maybe once a day..

    5-week old DS has gone once a day, on average, pretty consistently since about 2 weeks.

    Wet diapers are usually the most important and gas means that his little intestines are working.  As little as he is i would call tomorrow just to make sure.  They'll probably want to know what it looks like when he poops too in case its some weird consistency that requires more looking into.  Good luck!

    I *think* it is supposed to be more often than that when they are that young. After 4-6 weeks they might start pooping a little less, but my guy still goes almost once for each feeding.

    I agree with this.  My little man pooped about 8 times a day for the first 6-8 weeks, then it slowed down to once or twice a day, now he only goes once every other day or so.

    Update: I called the pedi, nurse suggested 1/2 a tsp of brown sugar and 2oz of water btw feedings. I no longer than made the bottle, put it to his lips and he pooped!

    How ironic.  Anyway, I was happy to see that but would like him to be going more often since i've read about 20 responses btw here and 0-6 that say thier nb goes several times a day.

    Wishing for poopy diapers, who would have thought.
