My DH and I cannot agree on a boy's name. We want something not very common, but not too weird either. I was looking over a website that suggests names and Joss came up. I thought that it might work since it sounds like Joshua, but not as popular. Thoughts?
Re: Name Advice - be brutally honest
I agree, sounds like a girl.
Joss makes me think girl, as in Joss Stone. But there's also the buffy guy, Joss Whedon...
I don't dig it.
This
I actually find Joss hard to pronounce. Unless I think about it, it comes out "Josh."
My DS has a name that most people have never heard of, and is not on most baby name sites, Joren. So I like different names;) My first thought with Joss was that it was a girl's name (you said be honest!) but I actually DO like it. If you find something you and your DH both agree on, go for it, no matter what other people say! Just be prepared to say repeat it and spell it all the time. That's what we have to do. Does your DH like it?

Joss Whedon (producer of Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse) is a Joseph who uses Joss as a nn.
And Josselin (or the French spelling Jocelyn) is actually a male name that was co-opted for girls only within the last 50 years.
Haha, I was just about to tell her about you. Good thing I read first!
Oh and I like it, but more for like a NN.
Actually I agree with this, and I really like Josiah
I think of Joss Whedon, and that's a good thing. I like it, but would prefer it as a nn.
Me needer!
This.
This.. and it also reminds me of Joss Stone. Sorry
this.
Ditto. I think girly.
