It was painful until a few months ago. ?We were using a ton of lube and now lately we haven't had to use the lube at all. ?I also had a pretty bad tear that took 2 months to heal or not feel pain when I walked.
We didn't try sex until about 8 weeks pp, and it wasn't painful but it was uncomfortable. It was uncomfortable for the first handfull of times and then it was fine.
We never got around to it until 6 months PP and it felt fine ( I had second degree tears and then hubby broke his leg...so SEX was out...oh and I was sleeping in the guest bedroom...cuz he snores)

Probably until around 6 months PP. It stopped hurting after I stopped BFing. Still hurts sometimes if we use the wrong position. I had a complete episiotomy though.
I tore and had some strange sensations going on there for awhile. I'd say it felt good around... 8 months pp? It didn't hurt before but it was uncomfortable.
What's the connection with BFing???? I've been BF for 9 months and it STILL hurts sometimes, though not as bad. I had a 2nd degree tear that refused to heal - was cauterized at 5 months PP due to not healing. Does BF make it more uncomfortable?
Still waiting on that. I'm in PT right now for my tore muscles down there. It SUCKS. The therapist is hopeful that I won't need surgery but I hurt bad most of the day every day.

BF dries you out down there! Jude started nursing less around 11 months and I noticed a big, big difference in sex AND my libido.
It never hurt, but was uncomfortable the first time. After that everything was pretty much back to normal and Os were even better! I only had a first degree tear.

I had 4 stitches and it took almost 7 mo for it to not be painful, but since I'm BFing there's some dryness issues. bleh. Why can't guys be cursed with this kind of stuff?
Until about 5-6 months pp. Although we only had sex a handful of times during that time. Maybe if we had done it more, it would have felt better sooner, kwim?
Re: If you had a vaginal birth
At 6 weeks pp, it took 3-4 times for it to not be uncomfortable. It was never painful.
I had a 2nd degree tear and waited the full 6 weeks.
It was uncomfortable till 8 weeks pp. I had a 3rd degree tear.
DD#1 - took about 7-8 weeks to have no discomfort.
DD#2 - took about 3 months.
I didn't tear much with either, so I'm not sure why it took so long.

SEX? Isn't that what you do to make babies? (J/K)

It's just now ok for me. I tried globs of lube and chugging booze and nothing was working. lol
A friend of mine suggested asking for an estrogen cream and that finally did the trick!
