I guess the job post made me think of this.
I wanted to be an artist (painter) or a writer.
I have a B.A. in English but have yet to do anything with it b/c I don't want to move to a city.
My sister wanted to be a leaf.
Not even joking. She was 4 years old. I remember it clearly. "A leaf?" "Yup! A leaf" ... "a leaf like...on a tree?" "Yes. A leaf"
Ooookayyyy
Thankfully she is now working for the state in economic and community development....NOT a leaf.
Re: What did you want to be when you grew up?
i wanted to be a female wrestler and a checkout girl at wal-mart.
?
instead i got my degree in english/creative writing and i'm a writer. ??
Now you're just making me look bad.
LMAO.
That is cute though!
I wanted to be a writer too! And I also have an English degree. I wrote a story when i was 8 for Highlights Magazine, and thought I was hot sh!t.
?
I also wanted to be an Egyptologist during my high school years. I can read hieroglyphs, for the most part. I ordered a lot of college text books and taught myself.
?
But i ALSO love baking and pastry, which has kind of been underlying in my whole life, so I went to culinary school last year, and I hope to get an awesome job in the next year as a pastry cook/chef.?
LOL!
I wanted to be a model.
I wanted to own my own bookstore... this started when I was very little and only grew into an obsession after You've Got Mail came out. When I got to university, I realized that this wasn't a realistic career just yet and got a BA in Psychology b/c secondly I wanted to be a School Psychologist more than ANYTHING.
I'm an insurance agent... Allstate, anyone?
i didn't say i was a good one...but no seriously i really am. ?ha!?
I honestly don't remember what I wanted to be....
But my biggest regret is not going to nursing school.
When i was about 4 or 5, whenever anyone asked me what I wanted to be when i grew up I told them I wanted to be a cartoon. I feel pretty lucky because I've been able to do the voicing a few times for different projects.
A teacher.
And I still want to be one.
I wanted to be a lawyer.
Now I am a coach and a Project Coordinator at a stupid company and I don't like it.
I think I might be okay though, I haven't finished my degree so I may not fall into this category. haha.
LMAO
I got a degree in English/Creative writing and wanted to be a writer. I've had poetry published but would like to work on some actual stories. I had to get a job to pay the bills....then I got laid off from that job, so now I just sit on my butt at home as a "SAHPL" (Stay-At-Home-Pregnant-Lady).
Why I am not writing NOW...I do not know.
I wanted to be short stop for the Yankees.
I'm a special ed teacher
a professional roller skater.
edit: now I'm a cop in the navy. for one more month. then I have NO idea what I'll be.
Originally I wanted to be a ballerina and a mommy. Later I dumped the ballerina part for other professions.
For a while I really wanted to be a pedi or a nurse but abandoned that when I found out you had to dissect a cat. I'd dissect people any day over an animal.
I also wanted to be an astronaut. My strategy was to join the Navy and I really wanted to fly the fighter jets. I was obsessed and was the only teenage girl that I knew that watched Top Gun for the planes. Then I found out (this was the 80's mind you) that women weren't allowed to fly those planes so I dropped that dream.
Later, in high school I got into theatre and my dream was to be a professional actress. I'm still involved in community and regional theatre and if I could, I'd drop my teaching career to act full time. Being on stage is the most fulfilling thing for me. I love it.
I told my parents I would be a pilot at age 4. I am one...well used to be an airline type but now an corporate instructor type.
My sister on the other hand was much more creative. She wanted to be a bald headed Cabbage Patch Kid. She could lose half her head of hair and still have more than me.....I thought it was hilarious!
I wanted to be a cashier at CVS, I literally thought it was the greatest thing in the world at age 5. Strangely enough, my MIL works at CVS and assures me that it's a good thing I didn't follow my career aspirations.
I now work for a CPA firm and do taxes, which I really enjoy actually. However, I'd scrap the whole working thing in a second to stay at home with my kids if I could!
Same thing right??
ahhh KIDDING KIDDING. I couldn't help myself!
a waitress
I wanted to be a nurse or an archaeologist. Now I am a writer and editor for a magazine.
I went to college intending to become and L&D nurse. I still regret not finishing nursing school sometimes.
I wanted to be a chef, I did make it through 2 years of schooling for it, but when my scholarship fell through for my degree- I gave it up.
I did always want to be a mom. Honestly!
I wanted to be an architect, a teacher, a secretary, or a catalog-order-taker for JC Penney. Other than that, I wanted to be a mommy!
I was an admin. asst. and am now a customer service coordinator for a health insurance plan. In just 9.5 short weeks, I'll be a Stay-at-home-Mom!
A ballerina.
Then I got my degree in Dance Performance and Choreography, and I teach at the University and professional levels.
