clicky poll re: washing dishes

My mom and I always argue about what is "best", just wondering what others do.

Re: clicky poll re: washing dishes

  • I fill the sink and use a sponge that is rough on one side and spongy on the other side.
  • Loading the player...
  • Other - the dishwasher.  I put almost everything in there!  heehee....
  • I put soap on a regular sponge then wet and scrub each item then rinse it off.

  • DISHWASHER!

  • I use a scrub brush with the soap inside of it to get the gunk off.  Then I squirt soap on what I'm washing and wash it with a paper towel.  There are very few things that I wash by hand though.  Most goes in the dishwasher.

  • I wash my dishes by hand because we don't have a dishwasher. Yes, it sucks as much as you'd might imagine!

I wash them under hot, running water. The water runs the entire time. I wet the dish I'm washing, scrub it clean with a Doby sponge and then rinse it under the water. I don't think the dishes get clean by filling the sink up and washing them all in the same dirty water, then rinsing them(either under the running water, or dipping them in clean water).

My way is not very green(it wastes more water than filling the sink up a few times) but it gets my dishes clean enough by my standards. That's what's important to me!

  • I am a horrible water waster. I hate filling the sick so I get the dishes wet, use soap and a brush and then rinse with fresh water.

ditto - what doesn't go in the dishwasher gets washed this way

Sometimes DH will fill the sink and then use the sponge if there are several bottles and a sippy cup or two to wash at once.

Ditto here, too. But mostly everything goes in the dishwasher.

Also this.  But with 5 of us, I pretty much running the dishwasher at least once per day.

  • most things go in the dishwasher but for washing pots/pans I use Dawn foaming dish soap, it goes a really long way (I LOVE it).  No I don't fill up the sink, the water gets too yucky IMO.

This, for things that we don't put in the dishwasher (pots, pans, knives, etc).
  • Other - I use the diswasher for nearly everything.  Things that can't go in the dishwasher, I wash by hand with a sponge and running water.  I guess I just don't like the idea of a sink full of dirty water.
  • When I hand-wash dishes, I use a two-sided sponge and squirt soap onto it. I keep the sink empty and run the water almost continually. (Bad for water, I know, which is why I use the dishwasher.)
