This is just a vent... My DH and I haven't even been married for a month, but he is ALWAYS always ALWAYS taking off his wedding band. For a shower, to SLEEP!!?? etc.. And half the time misplacing it! He already lost it on one occassion when he took it off to nap he put it on a table beside the couch and ended up knocking it off in his sleep and we had to move the couch to find it!! And today I wake up go to the bathroom and find it on the very edge of the sink where he had obviously taken it off to take a shower, but if anyone had bumped it- down the drain it would have gone!!! This just frustrates me very very much and I believe it would even if I wasn't pregnant.. Now I have the ring on my thumb and am not going to say anything... When he goes to look and finally thinks he has really lost it- MAYBE it will wake him up and he will stop. I don't know! I'm also very ill too because we got 3 rings- a solitair and band for me and a band for him that were supposed to be right at 4 grand on sale, but I knew the woman selling them and always worked out deals for her at my work, so she pulled out an extra coupon and the manager discount and we got them all for $600... NOT going to happen again if we hafta go in there and buy one because he lost his!
Re: NBR: Grumpy about wedding bands!!!
I don't sleep or take a shower with my ring on. As a matter of fact, when I get home my ring goes right in its box and I won't wear it till the next day.
I would be more annoyed if he doesn't wear it ever but sleeping/showering/around the house I wouldn't care.
Arg.
My DH can't wear his wedding ring at work, so he really doesn't wear it ever, just in case he forgets to take it off. It kind of bugs me, but I'd prefer he not lose a finger at work than wear his ring
However, when he leaves it around the house after he does wear it, it bugs the hell out of me
Exact same!
My ring always goes in the same spot every day, though, so I don't have a risk of losing it or of it going down the drain. THAT would bug me.
Dh takes his off to shower and sometimes to sleep, and he takes it off when he's doing something dirty. I get it, though. I took mine off any time I worked with water because I HATE the feeling of water under my ring. It doesn't fit any more, but I'll keep doing that when it fits again.
DH's ring is a little big in the winter, so sometimes he has to take it off so it doesn't fall off. And his ring is like two smaller bands held together by sapphires--there's a little gap between the two sections, so he has to take it off sometimes so it doesn't get dirty.
It bugs me SO MUCH when he forgets to put it back on. I know how you feel--DH's ring would be about $2500 to replace, and I would INSIST on getting the same one. He'd be in so much trouble if he lost it. He works in a bar/restaurant, too, so I don't like him going to work without it. Not that I think he'll cheat on me because he's not wearing his ring, but it's nice to know that other people can see that he's spoken for.
Tell him that if he has titanium and works on the car (for example) and his finger gets stuck, they can't cut off the ring--they have to cut off his finger. It's true! That's what the guy at the jewelry store told us. Titanium and Tungston both--they don't make a blade that would cut throught them. Maybe he'll reconsider.
HAH! WHAT?? You hit this guy with a vehicle? Was it on purpose??
