Poll: Vacation Plans

in 2nd Trimester

Since we haven't been able to decide where we want to go (beach? mountains?) or even when to take our family vacation, how about I live vicarously through everyone else? :) Please tell me where you're going, what kind of accomodations you'll be in, and whether or not you have other children. :) And just for kicks, how far along you'll be by then. Thanks!

    We live in paradise every day, but about a month or so after the baby is born, we want to go up to Massachusetts to visit our families.

    DH and I are going to Chicago in June because he has a work conference there and I have never been. So I am bringing along my SIL and the hotel stay is free and we are driving there so the work will pay for our gas. So it will be a nice 4 day weekend and I will be 34 weeks at the time and this is my first baby.

    DH and I are heading to Hilton Head, SC for a week in May.  His sister is getting married Memorial day weekend so we are going to lay on the beach and relax for the week before. We will be staying in a condo.  I will be 31 weeks.

    I am going to Kentucky next week for girl's weekend. (16 weeks)

    I am going to Florida April 30th for a wedding. (18 weeks)

    Going a week to Napa and San Francisco May 20 (21 weeks)

    Going to Florida for shower in July (28 weeks)

    We're taking several little weekend mini-vacations since I have to save up my vacation days for maternity leave.  We're going to the beach for a weekend when I'm 33 weeks (condo).  And to our farm in Mississippi for another weekend at 34 weeks.  Oh - and we're planning on spending a weekend at our friends' camp on the Tickfaw for Memorial Day when I'm 28 weeks.  This is our first baby so we won't have other kids with us.

    We are going to be spening a 5 day weekend in Cocoa Beach Florida.  We leave at the end of April.  My cousin is getting married on the Beach on Saturday, my family got an ocean front beach house, I can't wait!  I will be about 28 weeks when we leave.

    We went to Bermuda for 6 days in November so nothing big this year.  We do have plans to go to BoothBay Harbour, Maine for 4 days the weekend after the 4th of July.  I will be 32 wks and yes we are taking DD.  We stay in a cute hotel on the warf next to the slip where the boat for the clam bake leaves from.

    We're taking an extended weekend holiday in May for our anniversary, and going to San Francisco. I splurged a little bit to get a deluxe suite! I'm super excited. I'll be about 20 weeks by then.

    We were supposed to be going to Hawaii for this anniversary (5th) but someone went and got knocked up! lol. So now we are both trying to save as much vacation time as possible for after the baby's born.

    DH and I got tickets to the Kentucky Derby, so we are making the 10 hour roadtrip in two weeks. We are bringing our two dogs with us and camping nearby Churchill Downs in an RV. Should be an adventure. I'll be roughly 23 weeks.

    (It may be a weird choice for a babymoon to some, but we are diehard horse lovers and racing fans so going to the derby has been a dream of mine!)

    My Dad has a lakehouse in Northern WI that we usually spend a lot of time at in the summer. We're for sure going for 4th of July and probably in August too. We're also renting a cabin at a Waterpark resort in WI dells with some friends in July. I'll be about 25 weeks then. We have 1 child currently, a 2 year old.

    We are just sticking close to home and going camping in May (I'll be 24 weeks), and then after the baby is born going to Montreal to see the in laws.  Nothing too exciting for us this year!

    1st semi-vacation is April 24th - 28th at Ocean City, MD with some friends and DH.  We are staying in his parents timeshare.  I will be 25 weeks.

    Real vacation will be June 26th - July 3rd at Ocean City, MD with DH's family.  We will be in the timeshare again and I will be 34 weeks.

    We are flying to New York (Long Island) mid June to visit family. I will be 24 weeks. It is a 3 hour plane ride. We will be staying with family and it is just me and DH.

    I went to Mexico in February when I was 19 weeks.

    Going to Adirondacks in June when I'll be 36 weeks.

    Camping in Poconos around 33 weeks.

    May 16-23 I'll be about 24 weeks...we are headed to Azul Beach Hotel in Riviera Maya Mexico.

     

    Then in June, I'm going to Jamaica for a long weekend and Ft. Lauderdale for a long weekend with my friends.

     

    I leave next week (21 weeks) for three nights to Turks and Caicos for work with a co-worker.

    We don't have any official vacations planned, but we will be going to a wedding at a fancy "up north" resort in June and staying for the weekend.  We have no other children so this will be the closest we'll get to a babymoon.  I'll be 27 wks at the time.

    In a few weeks we're using DH's frequent flier miles to go to Miami for some quiet time together: joint 2nd anniversary trip + babymoon.

    No plans for the summer yet (but last year it was a family cottage on a lake in Michigan with lots of DH's relatives; restful..... but not exactly "summer" hehe, just too cold for this tropical gal's taste [in the 60s and 70s])

    Due early September, so we will be showing off the baby to my family & relatives in Chicago for Thanksgiving.

    Then Christmas in Prague where DH's parents live! It's beautiful and particularly festive there over Christmas; and I'm excited that I'll be able to drink hot spiced wine again by then!  :D

    (wow, do I really have my life "planned" through 2010 already???? eep!)

    4.  Omaha - Berkshire Hathaway Shareholder Meeting (24 Weeks)
    5.  Palm Springs - Second Home (25 Weeks)
    6.  Napa - Suite at Calistoga Ranch (26 Weeks)

    Undetermined Date
    7.  Costa Rica - Private Villa (Date TBD but likely 28 Weeks)

    I'm a Wall Street trader so by far the best vaca is #4.  Can't wait to see Bufett and Monger!!!
