Hi guys. I just started seeing an RE, and had my CD3 bloodwork last Friday. It came back with some bad surprises. The first is that my thyroid is a little elevated, which sounds like it's going to delay any treatment until we can sort that out. More worrying to me, though, was my FSH, which came back at 9.1. I know that's not technically diminished ovarian reserve, but right before I conceived my daughter it was 7.2, so this seems like a big jump in 2 years. I am 37, so I guess I shouldn't be terribly surprised, but I really wasn't expecting this. I am really down. Any hopeful stories out there?

Dr. S wants FSH under 6 right? Has he told you what they can do for it? Any kind of treatment plan thrown around?

I think they prefer FSH 8 and under. ?I haven't talked to Dr. S yet--I need to make my followup appointment so I can find out what the miracles of modern medicine can do for me before I make myself completely insane. ?Sometimes I really hate google.

hello and welcome!
i too have high fsh (i'm 31 - will be 32 in july) and was officially diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve in september 2008. we got lucky and pg on our own with ds in 2005, so it wasn't diagnosed until after we had tried to conceive #2 for over a year (started trying in 2007) and don't know where my number was when we got pg with him.
in september 2008 my fsh was a 11.2 and i was told by my doctor that injectibles were my only option as clomid and other pill form treatments were out of the question as they just wouldn't work (for me).
due to out of pocket expenses for the injectibles we had to go on hold til after the new year (and a replenished flexible spending account kicked in) and when my fsh was retested it was a 9.4...yes, it went down! i didn't change anything (and still didn't ovulate the entire time we were on hold), but somehow something changed. it was still 2 more months before we were able to get started with the follistim (and hcg trigger and progesterone suppositories) due to cysts that had formed (first 1 on my right and the next month 1 on my left - 1 mo of bcp took care of them). we started our first cycle of the injectibles 3/12 and i got a bfp on 4/1 followed by 2 betas that doubled in less than 36 hours...first u/s tomorrow!
from what my dr. tells me, it can fluctuate a lot...don't be down. you still have a relatively low number...my dr. wouldn't work with me over 12 as it just wasn't going to work, so i was really down my first appointment when my results came back at 11.2...but, just try to remain positive!!
