This was the topic of conversation between my dad and I this morning. Truthfully, the whole idea scares the sh!t out of me. I can't shake this conversation.
If you believe, when do you think "the beast" (as the bible puts it) is coming?
I do believe in the end days the way the Bible explains them. I also believe, as the Bible teaches, that nobody knows when it will happen. Definitely scary to think about though.
No. In my opinion the Bible is not literal. It is a parable to teach us things.
So, I don't believe in a specific person/whatever that is the anti-christ. I do believe there could be some type of Armageddon, certainly, but caused by us - nuclear annihiliation, a virus, etc.
Have you read The Road? Fabulous book - scared the sh!t out of me.

First of all, that pic with the dog is hysterical. What kind of dog is that?
Yes, I believe in the AntiChrist. I think if you believe in good, then evil exists as well. I don't know when it will occur and prefer not to think about it because I would dwell on it. I read Hal Lindsey's Countdown to Armageddon a while ago. Can't remember lots of details, but it was scary.
I believe the Bible. Someone up there (I don't remember who it was) said that the Bible isn't literal. Well, yeah, the Bible contains all kinds of literature. Some of it isn't "literal," like God isn't really a hen and Israel isn't really a bunch of chicks gathered under his wings. I think the book of Revelation uses a lot of imagery that isn't to be taken literally, but who knows. It's the record of a vision. Who knows if he saw exactly as he described it or if he just did the best he could. Maybe when he says he saw giant locust, they were really helicopters, but he had no idea what they actually were so he just came up with the best comparison he was familiar with. I dunno, that's the best example I could come up with.
Anyway, yes I believe that there is/will be an antichrist and a judgement day. I choose to live like the end of the world is tomorrow. Or later today. At least, I strive to live that way. Dang, what am I doing on the Nest...
I am not much into fiction, although I enjoyed the heck out of Twilight..I don't really believe that Edward is hanging out in a little town called Forks..
No, not at all. Why would you believe in something as silly as that? Sure, the world might be destroyed, but it will be humans (as in, ALL of us) that will do that. Not some beast or spirit or other such nonsense.

He is a big goof! lol. He is a golden retriever/standard size poodle mix. A complete teddy bear.
yes- and it scares me to see many signs that the end of days may be coming in my lifetime.... i try not to think about it.... and always remember that Christ always comes first- no matter what.

This is what scares me. My dad feels that it is coming within his lifetime or mine at least. I'm scared mainly for my children. It makes me wonder if it's wise to have a #2 one of they will only go through Hell in the end. I'm soo very confused.

People have been seeing "the signs" for hundreds of years. Thousands of years. Do you know how many people have predicted that the "end of the world" will happen in their lifetime? Tons. And they're all dead and the world is still here.

Nope. I have a friend whose father spent the entirety of her college savings account to build a fall-out shelter in preparation of Y2K/the end of times. Guess what? Nothing happened. Oops.

Right people throughout the ages have thought that their generation would be the last. Even the bible speaks of a church where the members pretty much stopped living because they were convinced that Jesus was going to return. That obviously didn't happen. I remember in college I went to a church where this old guy "prophesized" that the rapture would happen in his lifetime. Yeah he is dead now. I think some people just don't like the idea of death and dying so they focus on being raptured out rather than dying.
Also some christians really can be obsessed with this stuff and see the "end times" in everything. How old are you by the way? I was in middle school during the first gulf war and I also remember people being very convinced that Sadaam Hussein was the anti christ too.
I also wanted to let you know that not all christians believe in armeggedon and the anti christ. That is a disspensationalist point of view
There are other view points out there such as preterism and partial preterism. There is a growing group of people who believe that when john wrote revelation he was talking about the time he was living in not thousands of years in the future and that Nero was the anti christ.
I know it didn't make any sense to me either because it was so contrary to what I had been taught all my life but the more I read about it the more it makes sense. There are several books about it like the Apocolypse code.
It seems that this is really bothering you if you are thinking about not having a second child. So it wouldn't hurt to see what else is being taught out there.
It is at least worth a shot and could always be something to debate with your father about or possibly just ease your anxieties.

I don't like to think about it happening...much too scary.
