Our little guy arrived on March 29th at 8:58pm. He was 8 lbs, 7 oz, and 20.5" long. Hoag was amazing. Dr. Illeck did the delivery and our nurses were great. Thank God for the epidural!
Thanks for your help and advice! I'll try and make it to the next gtg. It will be nice to get out of the house!

I was expecting my contractions to start small and build up...
I could hardly sleep the night before, I was just super uncomfortable, but not in any real pain. At around 6:45am, it felt like I had to go #2 pretty bad. When I sat on the toilet it just was uncomfortable. So I grabbed my exercise ball and was sitting on it waiting for my hubby to wake up. I could feel the pain in my lower back but not in my belly at all. I was timing them and they were about 30-40 seconds long and about 60-90 seconds apart from the get go. I called the Dr. and he said to take my time, take a warm shower, and get ready but continue to time them. He said he thought it was early labor pains. By the time I got out of the shower, I was in some serious pain and we left for the hospital as soon as I managed to get myself dressed. The drive to the hospital was torture. With a minute or less break in between I couldn't wait for us to get there. My poor husband is trying to comfort me and trying to hold my hand but I pulled the "don't touch me" card. LOL!
We got there, I signed some paperwork in between trying to breathe and stay calm, and they hooked me up to a monitor. My contractions stayed the same throughout the whole day, and only got stronger. I got the epidural around 11:30am and thank god I got it then because almost all of my contractions were off the chart by then.
Hoag was great. The nurses in labor and delivery were excellent. Once I got the epidural, they broke my bag an hour or two later. My little guy had pooped in there, so it was really green, which was pretty gross. His heart stayed strong the entire time, so there wasn't much cause for concern. I did a set of 3 practice pushes with the nurse while we were waiting for the Dr. to get there at around 8pm. The Dr. got there shortly after and I did 3 sets of 3 pushes and out he came. I think I pushed for maybe 20 minutes tops and that was only because my contractions were starting to be spaced out a little more. The Dr. pulled him out and he cried right away, so that was awesome.
The only issue I had at Hoag was the night nurse we had out 2nd night there. I was doing perfect with breastfeeding, but wanted extra reassurance and what she was doing to help was bruising my nipples instead of helping. That was frustrating. And I asked to be put on the lactation consultant list, but the 1st nurse just told me that all of the nurses had gone through training recently and could help. If you ask for the lactation consultant, insist on being put on the list. But other than that, they were great. I loved it.

Congrats! He is so beautiful!
I delivered at Hoag too - and the day nurses and L&D nurses were awesome...I had a BAD night nurse once though. Other than that I loved it. It was like The Ritz of Hospitals!
Hope you are feeling okay and getting some sleep
