Doctors/Hospitals in Hampton Roads

Can anyone share stories about OB's and hospitals in the Hampton Roads area? Specifically, I'd like to hear about the Norfolk/VA Beach area but I'm sure others would be anxious to hear any stories in the area.

 Choosing a doctor is soooo important and I feel like I am at a loss for information!

    Hi, sorry I just saw your post like 2 weeks late. Anyway, I delivered my DD at Sentara Leigh in Norfolk and it was a great experience. The nurses there are the BEST and the rooms are huge. Even the food was amazing. It was like going to a hotel to deliver. My OBGYN is Keisha Burfoot and I haven't always liked her manner at appointments but she was wonderful during the delivery. She had been in Chesapeake but she has a new practice on Kempsville Rd. in Norfolk (not to be confused with Kempsville Rd. in VB). Also, next to the hospital is Pediatric Associates and DD sees Dr. Emily Fitzpatrick. She is so good to DD and always takes our questions seriously.

    I can also recommend Dr. Fenny Kwan who delivers at VB General (you'll have to google her to see what practice she's with, she used to be at my old one).

    Also, I've had 2 or 3 friends deliver through the midwifery center at DePaul in Norfolk and they had great experiences. You can have a natural birth but if you freak out there are doctors and drugs nearby.

    My SIL delivered at Chesapeake General (now Ches. Regional) and the rooms were teeny but she said it was fine.

    My dr. is Dr. Thibodeaux with Churchland OBGYN, and she is FABULOUS! All of the dr.'s in there are great, they are all women. The only one i didn' like was Dr. Mobley. I will deliver at maryview in portsmouth, my friend has delivered 2 babies there, and had good experiences both times.
