EPers-- do you think this is possible?

I skipped my AM pump today.  I went to bed at 12 and got up at 9 (I feel fantastic!)  Showered, fed DS,and am now pumping (GASP!).

So now I think I have more pumped than normal.  Could it be that "full boobs" will produce more overall?  Or is it just a fluke?

Re: EPers-- do you think this is possible?

  • it depends- in the short run it might work- if you can make it two weeks doing that and not losing any oz- than that is awesome. however from my experience it goes well the first couple of days and then you start to lose some ozs. if you can spare the ozs- great. if not then you usually have to revert back to the normal pumping schedule and pump a little extra to get back to where you were.

you can see if it works for you and just keep an eye on your supply. if you see it dip- then take whatever measures depending on what you want in the end. more freedom or more ozs. (no wrong answers)

  • On the weekends I let myself sleep in a little bit and usually end up pumping about 45 min "late". ?That first pump is then awesome--I pump quite a bit mroe than usual. ?But then the rest of the day I usually pump a bit less than usual. ?So all in all, it usually evens out in the end, although this weekend I had one of my lowest outputs ever. ?But I'm also suspecting the return of AF (she has not returned as of yet) so that could be part of it too. ?Like pp said, decide what's more important to you--sleep/freedom or ounces? ?For me lately, it's freedom! :)

  • You will most likely see a decrease in the long run but like pp said, if you can afford to loose some oz. then no biggie.  I usually skip a pump both Sat and Sun so I can sleep longer and then pick it back up during the week.
  • Your body will adjust in time.  So if you wake up later and skip a pump and you're really full, your body will stop producing as much overnight.
