i work in a nursing home. i and another coworker pump in a private bathroom that the residents ?use when they are having therapy. last week, i was about to pump when a resident and another therapist were heading to the bathroom. this left me with no place to pump and therefore i only got one pumping session over my 9 hour day.?

?anyone have suggestions? i also have a productivity standard to meet at work, so it's hard to find the time to squeeze in pumping to start or go to my car to pump. (i have to be providing therapy 80% of my work day)?

i do plan on addressing this with my supervisor, but she doesn't seem to have any suggestions.?

Talk to your supervisor. Could you find a closet somewhere that you can lock for 15-20 minutes?

Get another set of pumping parts. See if you can extend your day 15-20 mins so you can fit an extra pump in and still meet your productivity standard.

Pump while driving to/from work. This helps me out (I teach high school & my break is for my first 45 mins of work + lunch). I KNOW that sounds crazy... but it works for me. I'm hands free- I have a hands free bra, a car adapter for my PISA and a hooter hider. I'm not sure where you live in NE ohio and how far your commute is, but even an extra 10 mins will help your supply. (I grew up in NE Ohio).

I agree!

Also pumping while driving helps me a ton! Also pumping in the car in general works for me. I have everything ready to go so I can jump in and hook right up.

Also contact a local state legislator and ask if you have any rights. There are some states that mandate that employers of certain sizes provide pumping rooms.

we share a large office with 5 other people, my supervisor included

it only takes me 4-5 minutes to get to work.?

and ohio only has legislation for nursing in public...?

maybe, i may just need to explain that my productivity may be lower on some days if there are "pumping room" conflicts ..

Yikes! Would it be possible to work "extra" on the days where there are pumping room conflicts, in exchange for taking time to go pump in your car? It's not optimal, but in order to meet your productivity requirements, and compensate for taking extra/extended pumping 'breaks', it's probably what I would do... GL!

I agree with one of the other PP....get an adaptor for the car and go out there on your break and do it. I have done it.
