Which is better for the toddlers? (museum)

Pacific Science Center or the Seattle Children's Museum?  Or is there another place you would recommend?  I'm trying to get us out of the house as much as possible for cheap!

Re: Which is better for the toddlers? (museum)

  • I don't think the Children's Museum is good for 10 month olds.  There's really only one little place for crawlers.  Otherwise, it's bigger kids.   The Factoria Children's Musem - Kids Quest - is better for littler kids.  But even still, crawlers have a hard time there too.

I havent' been to the Science Center so I'm not sure about there.

What about the Aquarium or the Zoo?  Or even the new kids area at Bellevue Square if they like to climb/explore - that's free.

That age was tough.  Old enough that they needed to do something, but not old enough to really do much.

You could sign up for free trial classes at Kindermusic, Little Gym, Gymboree, etc... and see if you like any of those.

  • The community centers around Seattle have rooms for toddlers.  Most are open all day, and it's only $2!
After three years TTC, four IUI's plus 2 cancelled, MFI (morph, motility, count), maternal age (40 as of 5/12) & former endo, we're moving to IVF spring 2012 (good/avg AMH and FSH). We did beat the odds once, however. DD born after 2 years TTC with clomid and no monitoring at my age 35. Doctors are SHOCKED we were able to conceive. Here's hoping for another miracle.
  • My girls LOVE the Factoria children's museum. I bought a membership and we go there once a week or so. They also LOVE the play area at the PSC, so I also bought a membership there. I think that the one in Factoria is more versatile, but if you're on the westside, the PSC is a good option. I hate the Seattle aquarium so I wouldn't buy a membership there, it's too dang small.
  • Yah for that age I would try community centers. I know Magnussen Community Center has an amazing open play day on Fridays from 9-5. There is a "babyland" area for younger kids to crawl around without getting run over and it's only $2 for as long as you like. It's basically a huge basketball court filled with blow up bouncy houses, legos, blocks, and tons of ride on toys and cars.

Just google your area and community centers and see if any have drop in play times. I know Kirkland and Redmond and Green Lake do.

Also we went to Barnes and Noble a lot at that age and played with the train table there :)

  • I was not that impressed with the Seattle Children's Museum.  The one in Everett is WAY better.  There is an area for the toddlers, that they could get around in (Seattle).  So, it's not a total loss.  I haven't been to the science center in ages, so I can't say how they would enjoy it...
