Opinions on Ava?

I know it's popular... but it's classic not trendy so I'm more okay with it... We are having an incredibly hard time with girls names (we're team Green) and have had a boys name locked in for awhile.

My favorite name is Elise but I just can't talk DH into it : ( I still have time though.. but we need a back up.

Whenever I hear Ava I think of Ava Gardner, so yes it is a classic name to me too. However her middle name is Lavinia so I definitely wouldn't go with that. Several people do Grace as a MN which I think is very pretty. I think Elise is a great name with it too. Good luck!

I'm over Ava because of the popularity but it is a pretty name. So if that doesn't bother you go for it.

I really LOVE Ava my self ( I'm a bit biased though), although my DD's is spelled differently.

I've never liked Ava and it's way too popular. People may think you are going along with the trend, even though in reality you aren't. One of my friends' moms is named Avah so I just think of an old music teacher.?

I think Ava is very pretty, and Ava Elise is a good combo. Don't do something super common (Grace, Marie) though because it's nice to have a distinguishing middle when you have a common first. I'd also suggest Ava Dominique, Ava Josephine, Ava Marguerite or other 3 syllable names that don't also end with an 'ah' sound.

i prefer the eva spelling. not a fan of ava, it's pretty, but i know SO MANY little girls with this name, i feel sorry for when they start school and have to go by their last initals.

I LOVE Elise!

I know that it's spelled differently, but any time I see Ava I can only think of Eva Braun. Obviously other people don't see this. Perhaps it's just me. I'm sure, though, as I am a teacher, a lot of parents are not going to like that I think of their children somehow connected to Hitler! Yikes!

I think it is pretty, but I also know 4 girls who have named/are naming their daughter that. - I would not use it, but it's nice.

I've always loved this name. Unfortunately, so do alot of other people lol. If you both are set on it then go for it. Ava Elise is pretty btw!
