RP for weekend nesties: DIY Green Cleaner Party

I posted about this yesterday and got so many responses wanting PDFs of the handouts, so I thought I'd re-post in case anyone else would like them. ?Reply with your email addy and I will gladly send you the copies. :)

Many of my IRL SAHM friends aren't very into living the green lifestyle. Word started getting around church that I use cloth diapers and clean with vinegar (among other things). Little by little I was getting more and more questions, people wanting explanations and cleaning recipes. So I decided to host a "Make your own green cleaner party" last weekend.

I bought all the supplies and printed up little packets that listed recipes, explained the main ingredients, and had a list of resources in case they wanted to go more in depth. We did lunch and then I sat down and introduced each product to them, explaining the "green" product versus the commercial product it replaces. We talked about household waste, indoor air pollution, health dangers and cost savings. We made an all-purpose counter cleaner (granite safe), windex-type all purpose cleaner (vinegar), soft-scrub (withOUT bleach!), air freshener, and liquid laundry detergent. I included information on borax, castile soap, hydrogen peroxide, and vinegar in their information packets.

To cover the cost of supplies, each lady paid $8, which included all five products plus a bottle of fragrance oil.Everyone LOVED it. We had 10 girls (that's a start, right?) and they were all skeptical except for one. Most have contacted me since with messages like "____ product worked SO MUCH better than my Method/Clorox spray". A few have already gone and purchased their own castile/vinegar/borax/etc so that they can make more!!

Wahoo!! Now some other ladies are hearing about it and wanting me to do another one. Just wanted to share. Hopefully this will inspire someone else to do something similar. : )
