Welp, I just got outed at work.

So, I work at a massive company with an admin side and a manufacturing plant. I used to work in the plant, and took a job over on the admin side when my role changed in September. I had to go back to the plant and have a meeting with some people back in my old office. It is a room with a ton of activity going on- people coming in and out. I walk in, and everyone is like "Hi!!! Lindsay's here!!" because they hadn't seen me back there in a while. Well, one older woman, who I legitimately haven't talked to in like 5 months says "Lindsay, you're going to be a mommy!!".
I was completely stunned, and said, "Who did you hear that from!?" and she was like.. "I have my ways". I pretty much HAD to fess up. There were like 9 people in the room, mostly my age and "peers". She later said no one told her and she could just tell. Another one of my co-workers then said "yeah, its pretty obvious". Awesome. I really didn't want word out before 2nd tri. That ruined my day.

It's kinda a different "culture" in the plant, people don't really do business etiquette. And as for the lying thing, I don't think very quickly on my feet.

On another note, I read this morning your co annouced some upcoming layoffs. I thought about you. Hope you are safe?
Thats shitty! I wish people would learn to keep their mouth shut! That is news for the parents to be to announce when they are ready. Not some annoying co-irker who likes to steal the thunder!

Yeah, I am okay for now. They just layed off a bunch of people in the plant here and some in sales in the fall. My entire department was just majorly restructured in order to change the way we run things (hence why I moved out of the plant), so I think they are pretty settled on holding our headcount steady for now. Thanks for thinking of me!

Ugh, that stinks! I had a nursing supervisor say that to me, complete with the smug expression and "I can just tell," behing the desk during shift change (day staff AND night staff all there to hear her) the month before my BFP. Awesome.

Why do people do that? I'm sorry, that really sucks. I am with you, though, I would never have been able to think up a snappy comeback or even lie. I am like a deer in headlights when someone catches me off guard.
Can I just say that every time I see your siggy pic, it just cracks me up! I mean, you have had that for weeks now, and it still makes me laugh!
