Poem for Shower by Mom (also posted 2nd tri)
My mom and I love the "book-for-the-card" shower idea, but the poems she found online weren't quite right. So she took one of the ones online and edited it to sound better. I thought I would share it with you ladies because I love it. (And please don't give me grief about my mom hosting the shower-she's the only one in the vicinity as my bf lives 6 hours away and all my sisters live hours away too!) Anyway, here is the poem:
As Leah?s due date is drawing near
We invite our friends and family dear
To choose a book or a fairy tale
About princesses, fairies or even a whale.
So in lieu of a card, please let Leah look
At the thoughtful choice of your special book!
It need not cost any more than a card,
Just choose a favorite, it won?t be hard.
When Sidney is born, and is ready to snooze
From this special collection her Mommy can choose.
She?ll read her a fairy tale, story or book.
And then open the cover and take a good look.
When she opens the cover, your name she will spy;
She?ll remember the shower, (and probably cry!)
She?ll think how these stories were chosen so well,
And the story of this shower to Sidney she?ll tell.
So we thank you all now, and as Sidney grows,
For the gift of yourselves thru the books that you chose.
And to sweet baby Sidney your legacy will be?
The wonder and magic thru reading she?ll see.
