PSA: Do NOT buy the Leapfrog Musical Table

IF you do, DO NOT ATTACH the legs until you want them on for good.

The instructions are wrong and a majority of the tables out there DO NOT have detachable legs. I found this out the hard way and now my DS is flipping out because he wants to use the toy but I can't get the legs off (he can't stand yet). Poor little guy was crying so hard when I took it away. :(

I was just on the phone with customer service and they told me they have to send a return shipping label so I can return my current table BEFORE they will send out a table with detachable legs. This is just great because I already threw away the packaging...

Oh and they've known about this error for MONTHS.

I used to love Leapfrog stuff but this will be the last thing I buy from them because their customer service was HORRIBLE.

All other manufacturers that I've had issues with (Evenflo, FP) have sent out replacement parts no questions asked. I knew I should have bought the FP version of this table....

Re: PSA: Do NOT buy the Leapfrog Musical Table

  • We just set ours in its side and let DD play with it that way. I didn't know it was supposed to have detachable legs. It's a hand me down.
  • Loading the player...
  • I knew this from the reviews and have not attached them yet. This is a good psa.
  • They have two versions (both look identical), one of them has a button to detach the legs, the other doesn't, BUT only one set of instructions which refers to the detachable legs.

I'm just going to pry them off with a screwdriver so he can at least play with it until we get the new table. I only put them on because he's been standing (with support) and I thought it would be good practice with me holding him. I had no idea they wouldn't come off!

  • Leap Frog has HORRIBLE customer service. I just had to deal with them regarding there fridge phonics set I purchased. It says the wrong letter. To have them replace it I had to send it back at my cost $9.00. That is in addition to what I already paid for the defective piece of crap. I will NEVER again buy Leap Frog products! They suck as a company!!

  • i haven't attached the legs yet. thanks for this psa. i'll leave the legs off til ds is standing all the time!

  • Mine has the detachable legs.  That said, if you have a big baby?? Who likes to lean on and love on the table?  It WILL fall over.  Splat.

My twins are addicted to this thing.

  • We have this and Ben loves it.  The legs on ours detach.  I've taken them on and off a few times.  I didn't realize they made a version with legs that don't come off.  What's the point?
  • the undetachable ones are an ERROR on their manufacturing-

luckily i had the detachable ones but i read that on here several times. sucks.

  • I had the one with the effed up legs. I used it a while and then found out there was another kind where the legs DO come off. I took it back to walmart and told them I wanted the other one cuz I couldn't get the legs off and they let me exchange it, even though I told them I had it for nearly 3 months. I opened a couple boxes till I found the right one and now I have a good one!

Newest problem with it...it has ghosts in it. It plays by itself when I'm not in the room and when I try to make it stop it ignores me lol.

  • Really?  don't buy it?  That's weird.  Why wouldn't you want to buy it?  Oliver plays with ours that does NOT have detachable legs since he was 7 months old and he still loves it and plays with it every day.  You really don't need detachable legs.  weird.
  • We've had ours for months with the legs on and just took the legs off yesterday with no problem.

  • We did the same thing - put the legs on, tried to get them off, called customer service...

That said, your LO will be standing soon and will appreciate the table up on legs. ?Why return it? ?Ben LOVES this thing, and the legs being on now isn't a problem. ?We only had to hold him while he played with it for a few weeks. ?It's still a good toy. ?Annoying, yes, but it's not like your LO is 4 months old and you won't need the legs for months.?

  • Thank you!  I have this table but haven't attached the legs yet.  I will make sure to wait until DS is standing before I do.
  • My DD actually loves this table.  It's her favorite toy.  My legs are not detachable, but DD is standing very well, so that is OK. I think you will be fine was your LO starts standing up.
