What things did you look for and what things were red flags for you? ?We got a recommendation for an in-home DCP in the next neighborhood over, and when H called her she invited us to come to the Easter egg hunt she had this evening. ?We got to ask her about things we thought were important, and we were impressed that she had a big backyard, a safe playroom for the babies, a very clean house, she agreed with our EASY routine, she's licensed w/ the state and it seemed like all the kids really like her. ?Some of the children were after school drop-ins in about 1st or 2nd grade who'd been with her since birth. ?We also got to talk to a few of the parents about why they prefer her over a daycare facility, and so far we like everything we see. ?I did not see a single thing that made me think "ooooh, I don't know about this." ?She even held/carried Ian around for at least half an hour and he was very contented, and he's normally slow to warm up to people.
H wants to put a deposit down for an infant spot opening up in August, and I do too but I am just worried, I guess b/c it's change and also b/c she seems too good to be true. ?Am I missing something? ?Can she really be that attractive an option?
Re: If you use an in-home DCP
Sometimes you just hit gold. We have an inhome daycare provider. She too is licensed and gets routine unannounced inspections. She has the BEST place. Beautiful home, big back yard, and the kids all get along really well.
She loves Jo and Jo loves her. The moment I met her I just knew. We're SO happy.
