Cervix is behind the baby's head

Anyone else's OB tell you that?  I know it sounds crazy, but I've been reading up on it online.  Sounds like it is not too much of a problem but it is doubtful that labor will start until it fixes itself (if it does).  C-section may be needed.

Re: Cervix is behind the baby's head

  • I had my first internal today and the doctor said he had to reach behind the baby's head to get to my cervix. Ouch!!!

My doctor didn't seem concerned and didn't mention anything about a c-section or complications.

  • This is relatively common, esp before labour starts. The cervix is posterior & it makes exams more uncomfartable. Often early labour is your body workign just to brign that cervix forward & to thin it. A lot of women feel discouraged if they do not dilate, but effacement & cervical position are very important espeically if its your first baby.

My babies were BOTH in a rush to meet mama, Logan born July 24, 2009 at 35.2 weeks, 5lbs 10oz, 1 week in the NICU. Eliya born March 22, 2012 at 35.6 weeks, 5lbs 12oz, 5 days in the NICU
  • My doc says the same thing about my cervix.. She said that when the cervix is completely effaced it should come forward. Nothing about complications or C-sections.

  • Well it makes me feel a little better.....this is why google is not my friend.
