Tuesday and yesterday I had noticed a huge decrease in the amount of movement I was feeling. I was trying not to worry about it but when it coupled with LOTS of Braxton-Hicks contractions yesterday afternoon, I decided to call the midwife on call and see what she thought. I figured she was just going to laugh and tell me to relax, but she told me to go ahead and go to L&D to be monitored!
Baby was fine and started kicking a lot as soon as we were hooked up to the monitor, but I was having some pretty severe contractions. I ended up needing a shot of brethine/terbutaline. They kept me on the monitor for almost two hours...and checked my cervix (ouch!) but it was "tightly closed". Anyway, it was kind of scary and I don't know what to expect next. I guess I will discuss it with my MW at my regular appointment next week. I hope baby decides to stay in for a LONG time!
Anyone have a similar experience? I'm wondering how common this is.
Re: First trip to L&D yesterday at 27w6d...
It's scary isn't it?
I made my first trip to L&D around the same time as you (almost 28 weeks) and I was back at 32 weeks. Now, my cervix is soft, slightly dilated and 50% effaced, I'm on restricted activity, and on Procardia for the contractions.

No, I don't believe they did. What does that test do?
