Anyone else a BIG softy?

I know the reason DS still cosleeps and is nowhere near STTN is because I'm such a softy and can't let him scream. Over the past month or so, I've gotten a lot better with letting him fuss or cry himself to sleep for a nap, because its tired fussing, and generally doesn't last that long, 5-10 minutes, max, and its not full on screaming either. However, if we put him in his crib at night, he screams bloody murder, to the point of gagging and making himself sick. Everyone tells me he's always going to sleep with us if we don't transition him to his crib soon and he's learning that I'll always come to the rescue if he just screams and waits (and I understand that), and, maybe its because I'm a first-time mom, but I just can't let him scream bloody murder, when I know all he wants is me. Anyone else have this problem?

  • Yes and if you could see me you wouldn't have to ask b/c of the giant bags under my eyes. I'm buying a sleep training book this weekend. I need some sleep but listening to him cry will be painful. So I feel your pain.

  • yup. my ds slept alone til 6 mo then he started teething....then ttada cosleeping...and i'm pregnant again.

i told my hubby I need a king size bed now :)

  • I'm with you.  We tried ferber but B became super clingy during the day...he just wasn't himself, and it wasn't worth it to me. If it helps, he put himself to sleep in his crib for 2 naps and for bed today.

Have you tried playing with him in the crib during the day so that he associates the crib with happy things?  That might help with the crying a little.
