Prefold Folding Techniques

Hi All,

My first is due in June and I've decided (thanks to many on this board) to use PFs and covers until she's bigger, than we'll move into fitteds.  So... for anyone who is doing/has done this, how do you fold and secure your diapers?  Just fold and cover? Secure the dipes with Snappis? Any special folds or preferences?  I'm planning on using GMD PFs and Thirsties covers (thanks AmandaHearn for the reccs!)  TIA!

Re: Prefold Folding Techniques

  • youtube - I was nervous about using prefolds but I watched a bunch of videos then tried some of the different folds until I found the one that works best.  I use a snappi because I only have wool soakers that I knitted.

And, yes, I secure with a snappi and then cover.

  • I second youtube for getting the feel of techniques.  We use snappis in a cover either PUL or wool.  And sometimes we just pull the wool up over the pf once DS has pooped for the day.  It also depends on whether or not DS ran off with the snappis on whether or not I use them.  He has currently run off with his only toddler size and I still can't find it.
  • I use the angel wing fold and a snappi.  You probably don't have to, but I rarely get any poo on my covers that way.

We have the same diapers and covers, and they've been great!
