Enfamil vs Similac

With DD #1 the hospital started dd #1 on Enfamil. I assumed they would do the same this time since it was just 2 years ago. I was wrong now I have samples of Enfamil and she is using Similac. The nurses assured me that it was the same thing and we shouldnt have a problem. Anyone use both? Once we are done with the samples we will use the target brand which compares to both. any thoughts?

Re: Enfamil vs Similac

  • we started out with Simalac for DD and she just didnt keep it down. We had MAJOR throwup moments where I swore the whole bottle came out of her. I switched to Enfamil AR Lipil, and we havent had nearly as many problems. I think it all depends on the baby

  • DS was on Enfamil at the hospital and we switched him to Similac when we got home. No issues.

DD#2 lost in January 2012 at 23 weeks due to anhydramnios caused by a placental abruption
  • I dont' have an answer yet.  Well, maybe I do....  we used some Enfamil samples we had.  DS was fine w/ those.  Now we are using Similac.  Once those are done, I expect we'll use the other Enfamil samples we have.  DS seems to do fine w/ either.

  • i was told that the hospital switches what they use every 6 months based on the samples they receive.  But they assured us that either is okay.
