Recommendations for OBGYN at Tampa General??

I just found out I'm pregnant with my first baby!  I live in South Tampa and would really like to deliver at Tampa General's new Women's Center (it's gorgeous, state-of-the-art and right next to my house) but I can't seem to find many doctors that deliver there.  All of the recommendations I've gotten from friends who love their OBGYN deliver at St. Joes.  Can someone please give me a recommendation for a doc they love and trust who delivers at Tampa General??  Or should I just change my hospital decision and go to St. Joes? Please help!

  • I'm delivering at TGH and I go to a midwife group called Women's Health Care which is also located at TGH. I'm due Feb 16 and I've really liked them so far. Look them up on their website https://www.whcflorida.com/ Good luck!

  • I usually don't respond to many posts but I had to. I looove Dr  Michael Morris at the Womens Group of Tampa Bay . He has got to be one of the best Doctors around. Problem1 for you I believe would be that he only delievers in St. Joe's and UCH. I did UCH and I looooooooooooved my experience. I am a first time mommy with a 6 month old baby girl and my experience was amazing.  I had to be induced and the staff, my nurse were awesome.. I have had numerous friends go through him as well and do nothing none the less then rave at how good he is and the hospital.
  • I'm due in June and using Women's Health Care like the first poster.  So far I've been really happy with the group, great approach to pg & birth.
  • I absolutely adore Dr. Catherine Lynch!
  • Dr. Lynch and Dr. Connery and any of the doctors at USF Women's Group are amazing.  definitely try them out.

  • I've heard great things about the midwives in the Women's Health Group.  I went to USF Women's Group for their midwives but found out when I was in labor that their midwives don't deliver (I had been told they did).  I had seen some of the Dr's and liked most of them, but the one on duty when I got to TGH was terrible.  He really made my birth experience a negative one. Luckily he didn't deliver DS.
  • What is the names of the Doctors who do the delivary at Women's Health Care? Is it the midwives?

  • Yes, the midwives handle deliveries.  If a complication requires an ob they transfer you to the care of USF OB group.  I was transferred while in the hospital with a complication and it was all very easy.  I miss the midwives, but no complaints about the transfer of care.
  • I have been trying to find a doctor who delivers at TGH also. Let me know if you get any good recommendations. I am not pregnant, however if it happens in the future I want to be prepared.

     Thanks!
