How many weeks were you when you had your twins? Every pregnancy is different but my dr. keeps telling me not to be surprised if I have them a few weeks early
Many women here had babies between 34-36 wks with good sized, healthy babies!!
Many had them MUCH earlier, and some made it 36-38 wks perfectly fine!!
It is rather normal to expect at LEAST 2 wks early, but reality is it could of course be 4-6 early and things can be just fine.?
There are sooo many factors at play with multiples. If they share a placenta, you can expect an earlier arrival then if they didn't...lots of things like that!
It can be the babies (my case) or the mother with the stress of multiples on her body. You just never know...but you should not in fact expect to go 40 wks...I don't think I know any twin mamas that went 40+wks....?
I had a scheduled induction at 37 weeks 6 days. (Many doctors won't let twin moms go past 38 weeks--39 for some, 37 for others I've talked to--because the placentas start to deteriorate and outcomes actually get slightly worse past 38 weeks. It's like going past 42 weeks with a singleton.)
I had a fairly easy pregnancy and was able to rest and not work from about 14 weeks on. I woke up at 32 weeks, 4 days and as i was walking down the stairs, my water broke. They tried to keep the little ones in there until 34 weeks but i went into labor and had them at 32 weeks, 6 days. They weighed 3 lbs, 10.5 oz and 3 lbs, 13 oz. and were in the NICU for almost 3 weeks. The one thing that i am grateful for is that i know that i did everything that i could to keep them in there as long as possible. I do'nt look back and think: "i wish i would have ____" or "what if i would have ____ instead". Take care of yourself and those little ones!
thank you ladies for the responses and for sending the FAQ link..my dr is suggesting a c-section and it looks like from the results on that link c-sections are very common with twins!
I was induced at 36 weeks 2 days due to high blood pressure. My dr. said she wouldn't let me go past 38 weeks and would induce me if I made it that far, which of course I didn't. My boys had no problems at all.
