DS is 7 months next week. We added lunch last week- so he gets 3 solid meals a day- fruits, veggies, cereal. Does great with solids- always finishes everything. However, the last couple of days he only drinks 5 4ounce bottles, where before he had 5 6-7ounce bottles. Is this ok, he is only getting 20 ounces a day now...does not seem like enough? Any one else have a big drop in formula when adding a third solid meal?
Re: Is 20 ounces of formula enough?
We just had my DS 9month appointment. To ask the same question, I totalled up his formula. It was 18 oz. I asked the same question- is it enough? My ped. asked- does he have other dairy? He has either yogurt or a slice of cheese each day- if not both. So, the ped. said it's fine.
Call and ask your ped- there may be a difference between 7 & 9 months.
But what if he just won't drink anymore? I EBF for months and only fed on demand- so I have a hard time "forcing" him to drink if he doesn't want it. Do I cut back on solids? I hate to do that because he does great with solids. BTW- I do have a call in to the Pedi.
Mine said normal intake should be 20-32 oz. per day.
'm on the other end of the spectrum, DS eats 3 meals per day and still drinks 35+ oz. of formula, we're trying to offer more water with meals but he just throws a fit.
Oh, good, that makes me feel a little better- either the 16 or 20... now I am really curious as to what my pedi will say??
