Infertility

I am joining the Clomid CLub (SAIFW)

I am joining all of you ladies in the "clomid club"

I just got back from the RE's and once AF starts I will start taking Clomid for my last 2 IUI's that the Insurance has approved.

I am excited about producing more follies, but nervous about the side effects.  Any insight that you can give me, I would love to hear.

TIA. ashely

Re: I am joining the Clomid CLub (SAIFW)

  • I didn't notice too many unbearable s/e and I was on it for quite many rounds.  The main thing was how it effected my CM, but IUIs bi-pass that.  I can remember a few hot flashes and headaches as the main thing.  But nothing a couple Tylenol wouldn't take care of.  Good luck dear!  I hope this does the trick! :)

  • I took 100mg clomid for my first two medicated cycles(one of which we did IUI). I always took my pills at night and was fortunate that I didn't have terrible side effects except for bloating(but that's to be expected). I did have some CM issues and my lining was quite thin but I have very suppressed levels even without clomid, so that may not be an issue for you. Good luck, hoepfully clomid is your ticket!
  • ditto pp.    the s/e weren't too bad for me...    some night sweats, a small amount of insomnia, and some headaches, but nothing that ruined my day or took over my life.   it was all very manageable.    i hope it stays that way for future cyles!

    good luck to you!

  • Well good deal that you have a plan and welcome to the club!  I wouldn't get that worked up over the side effects...for me that are annoying but worth the outcome.  I had night sweats and bloat; I just wore one of DH's undershirts during the night sweats, and the bloat, well, it gave me a reason to eat a lot and contribute it to bloat, lol!  The thing I hated most was that it dried out my cm, but with IUI, that's not an issue.  Remember, everyone is different.

Oh...I didn't mention the clomid crazies...I do get a little hormonal; so just be on the lookout for that.  DH knows now, don't piss a woman on hormones off.  He likes pumping me up with shirley temples and a NA beer to boot...nothing like a sugared up woman on hormones with an NA beer in her hand!

Best wishes, hopefully this will do the trick!

  • I dont get crazy on clomid, but I do get massive hot flashes, a little moodiness, but most of all it makes me hot and fat. I have been on 50mg, and had 1 follie, and 100mg. and havd 2 follies.

  • I just finished Clomid on Monday. I had a few hot flashes and I had headaches on day 3,4, and 5. I was a little sensitive, but nothing crazy!

    Good luck!!

  • just wanted to say good luck!
  • This has been my first cycle on Clomid.  I had a headache from day 3-9, sometimes worse than others, but always there.  I was a bit more sensitive and had some bloating this week.....days 15-16.  I am ASSUMING that I ovulated......and had no pains with that.

    Good luck with everything!!!

  • Thank you everyone who responded!  :)  I aprreciate it.
  • My s/e didn't start right away and they did continue a few days after the last pill. The main thing I had were hot flashes including night sweats. I gained a new appreciation for women going through menapause that have to deal with this! I also suffered from clomid crazies for at least a few days but luckily dh understood and would roll with it rather than reacting. No headaches, upset stomach or anything like that though. We ended up finding that clomid thinned my lining and I didn't get the best response so we moved to injectables but I'm so glad we tried it since it's such a cheaper option to start with. GL!
