I have had such bad pain from my teeth and gums off and on since finding out I'm pregnant. It seems like nothing helps. I've gargled with salt water, used Tylenol to reduce the pain, brush frequently, etc. Any recommendations out there for other ways to make the pain go away?
Re: My teeth hate me.
Unfortunately, I do not have dental insurance/can afford dental work. So I am trying to find any other solutions I can.
Pregnancy hormones send the gums and everything else into overdrive... Start brushing with Sensodyn ONLY. It has an ingredient that reduces sensitivity. It may take a few days or more to notice a huge difference but it will happen. Make sure that you do not brush less because of the discomfort. Only use a soft bristled toothbrush and floss daily. Try it out, be consistant and it will work. I've worked in community health (dental assistant) where we primarily saw pregnant/postpartum patients and our focus was on education and prevention. Good luck!
Hydrogen peroxide works well for sore gums. I will run a q-tip of HP along my gumline where it is bothering me or gargle with half HP half water- it works pretty well.
My gums are really senstive as is and have bothered me with both pregnancies.
