Trying to Get Pregnant

would you ever eat alone?

i'm not talking about a panera or coffee shop place, but a for real restaurant/diner.

let's say you REALLY want a ham & cheese omlette with a side of sauage, but it must be from a diner & they dont offer take-out.....would u suck it up and go out to eat alone if dh had to work late?

Re: would you ever eat alone?

  • Sure! I've done this mostly when traveling, but if I really had a craving and no company, why not?

I usually take a book or magazine to read.

  • I did it often before I got married. ?I usually got take-out, but sometimes, it's just nice to sit down and have someone bring you food.

  • Oh sure, I do most of the time when travelling on business.

And, DH travels too, so I have gone out here at home when he's away.

Go for it! Let nothing keep you from the sausage I say!

  • I'm a consultant and travel a lot for work - sometimes room service just won't do it.  I eat out alone all the time.

  • heck yeah. i've even been to see movies in theaters by myself when no one wanted to see it.
  • I would and have.  I think it is a little boring eating by myself, so I usually have a book or newspaper with me.

  • I do, but definitely have a book or magazine. I get really bored otherwise!

  • I travel a lot for work so yes, all the time. I usually get room service, but if there is an amazing restaurant I want to try (and the company is paying for it) then for sure I am not missing out! It does get boring though.
  • It's not my favorite, but I have definitely done that before.  Ditto the laptop or book idea.

  • yep. I agree with the book, magazine though but sometimes it is just fun to people watch and eavesdrop on people's convos.
  • I have but I dont like to.

I do, and I enjoy it when I do.  I bring a book.  I find that I get really good service and I always tip well.

It makes me feel mysterious, like who is that young woman by herself?  A secret agent?  A spy? A jet-setter?

YES! It is surprisingly liberating to take yourself out on a date. Take a book or a notebook or something and enjoy yourself.

  • Of course. I travel for work and eat alone all the time.

If you feel weird about it do what others suggested and bring a prop (book, mag, etc.).

I've even gone to movies solo - though that's pretty rare.

  • I have and I will but if you really don't want to eat alone, sit order and then when it gets to the table say you have an emergency and could they wrap this to go? Pay for it, go home and eat it.

  • Once you start traveling for business, you get over that sort of thing. I have no issues going out to eat by myself anymore. I usually just not motivated enough.
  • Oh absolutely.  I really love it.  When I was really young I worked at a restaurant and I used to take my break at one of the tables in the back, and eat alone (only one waitress on break at a time).  It was so relaxing and peaceful, I always brought my US Weekly or a book.  Since then, I rarely do it but I consider it a treat to go to dinner and sit solo.

  • I have done it a few times for a quick lunch, but I wouldn't like to do it at a sit-down restaurant.  I just feel so lonely by myself.  Embarrassed

  • I've done it a few times. I had to travel for business and I ate alone then, as well as a few other occasions when I had a "me" day. I quite enjoyed it actually. But sometimes I feel self conscious. I just have to be in the right mood.

  • I have done maybe once or twice. When I have to eat by myself I usually get it to go. I don't travel for work so I rarely have to eat by myself.
  • Definately, just bring a book!

  • I do this when traveling and when I am at the Courthouse around lunch time and don't feel social enough to call any of my friends for lunch. It's kind of peaceful. I also bring a magazine or at least my iPhone to read the news.
  • Well, I guess I'm a loner here, but I have not done this and I probably never will. ?I have eaten by myself at Food Courts, Panera, etc., but never a sit-down, order, and have the food brought to you restaurant. ?I'm not sure why I haven't/wouldn't do it....

  • I do it when I travel for work.  I travel maybe once a month and often to cities that I would love to see but probably wouldn't travel to unless I had a reason.  So, if I have some downtime while I'm there, I usually try to explore the city a little bit and try a local restaurant.  I've never gone to a sit down restaurant by myself here, though.
  • I'll admit, I've never sat down to eat anywhere alone.  I'm not sure if I would.  I think I would be more likely to get it to go.

When I was on the road for gigs it was pretty normal for me to eat out at a restaurant alone.  No biggie.

  • sure, My husband deploys alot so I dont think I should stay out of restaurants for a whole year, I go with a good book and enjoy my meal.
  • When traveling, sure thing,
