Success after IF

PP bleeding - when will it stop?

At almost 3 weeks PP, I'm still bleeding.  It goes from a period-like flow to nearly nothing and then it seems to gear back up again!  How long should I expect to be bleeding?  I thought my doctor said a couple of weeks.

Re: PP bleeding - when will it stop?

  • Mine finally stopped just before my 6 week pp visit with the OB. And it did come and go - I would think it was stopping, then it would pick back up again!

  • It will vary from person to person but I stopped completely between 5-6 weeks post partum.

  • I know this isn't want you want to hear, but I bled for 8 weeks.  My OB told me at my 6 week check-up, which was 6 weeks 3 days after I gave birth, that if I was still bleeding in two weeks to call him.  It finally stopped a day or two shy of those two more weeks.  And, like yours, it would go from period level to next to nothing back to period like.  It sucked!
  • Mine stopped after about 4 weeks. The amount varied from day to day, but just eventually got less and less. You are still in the normal range.
