Re: Since we are here lurking...

  • Nope but I occasionally lurk in 3rd tri just to reassure myself that people actually survive first tri!

    Congrats!!!!

Is there anything you wished you had done sooner? Register? Research? Toured the hospital? etc.

Oh, yeah, if you're using daycare, when did you get on the waiting list - and how did you decide which facility to use?

    And how are you feeling?

I wish I had done my blood work sooner, I just found out I have Gestational Diabetes. I was asked if I wanted to take the screening early, and I wound up waiting 3 weeks to GO for the test. Now that I have it, I feel guilty. But it really isn't the worst thing.

Honestly, read as much as you can. My doctor gave me a great book during my first visit. I highly suggest trying to get your partner to read it as well. It will help a lot if he understands what is really happening.

I wouldn't register until about a month before your shower. You will drive yourself crazy with changing items, getting reviews, things that go discontinued... definatly wait. And pick up Baby Bargins for the best reviews on all baby products. It's worth it!

Maybe I should have started my search for pediatricians earlier, but I didn't know when I was supposed to, and had no idea where to start. So I just started The Search.

My advice: Ask other moms that you know, whether they're co-workers, people at church, or wherever. My OB had ideas for what to look for and what not to look for, like weekend availability, fees for after hours phone calls, etc.

My daycare is my mom, so I didn't need to do much research on that. I know a few of the girls on the board have used their church to find in-home daycare options, and other girls started as early as the 2nd tri to set appointments at schools.

Feeling- Hmmm Large, uncomfortable, nervous, amazing, thankful... it's all wrapped into 1 large ball of emotions.  Once you begin to feel that baby move, it all becomes worth every second your head was in the toilet, all the pain vanishes!

Here is how we break things down... stupid questions get stupid answers...We don't TRY to be mean, but you are dealing with a board of women who are all pregnant and emotions come out.  ALL questions should be asked with some research first, if it's a medial question... it's a good idea to research first.. then come and ask for opinions or ask if other women have had similiar situations.. But some girls come on here looking for real medical advice.. and point is.. It's a internet board. We are not doctors so you should not treat this place like it is going to have ALL the answers. Most of us girls are supportive of each other and will offer our advice anytime. But we also like to be snarky to brighten up the day!  Have a good sense of humor and you will be fine!

What advice do you have on maternity clothes? Your fave brands, any that just didn't hold up?  What did you find to be the best and most versatile things that you wore throughout your entire pregnancy?

I have a pair of jeans I LOVE from Motherhood. I am short so I was able to get my size in Petite cut so they do not drag around on the floor. Personally I hated half panel jeans. I adore the full panel that covers my entire belly. It was a little hard at first to keep the panel up, but once that belly pops, the full panel is more comfortable IMO.

Don't wait to get a new bra if your current size starts to feel uncomfortable.

I have a lot of shirts that are just baby doll style that aren't maternity shirts but do the same thing at a much cheaper price.

Many of the girls love Old Navy maternity, and if you lurk on the other boards, there is at least 5 posts a day with coupons and sales for maternity clothes girls find.
